The following is an email I sent in response to a survey sent out by Kelly Block MP....

Hello Kelly I got your survey in the mail today. I have trouble with the first question, because it describes Canada’s energy product as “ethically” produced. By what criteria do you use to come to the conclusion that fossil fuels are ethically produced? Just in the process of extracting fossil fuels (oil and gas) we produced tones of CO2 which is exhausted into the atmosphere, which cause global warming (climate change). In the storage of fossil fuels, again we are exhausting tones of CO2 into the atmosphere; and, again, just in the transportation of fossil fuels domestically and internationally, we exhaust CO2 into the atmosphere, which contributes to the accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere—thus continually adding to the warming of the earth and its atmosphere.
Do you not understand what scientists say about fossil fuels and their impact on our planet earth? The danger attributed to fossil fuels extends to their bi-products as well as chemical pollution of waters and lands is killing many species of life. I grew up in British Columbia and I have worked in industry and I have witnessed the impacts of unsustainable mining, forestry, and fishing on our environment and its inhabitants.
I believe you have created in your mind a happy place where there are no consequences for human activity of stripping so called resources from the earth to feed a supply and demand economy with no limits. Fossil fuels are not ethically produced so why would I export this energy making the buyer an accomplice in the killing of the planet.
My answer is, no I do not support the exportation of western Canada's ethically produced energy around the world? I think you need to check your ethics out—you are a bit off!
